There are over 1,100 Southern Baptist associations, local networks of a few to several hundred of local churches. They are key to mobilizing, revitalizing, and planting churches among unreached peoples and places in every community and city in the US. Their ethnic and racial diversity tend to reflect that of their counties and cities. Some of the most diverse associations are also found in some of the largest metro areas of the country. These include Metropolitan New York, Los Angeles SB Assn, San Francisco Peninsula Assn, Gwinnett Metro Network (Lawrenceville, GA), Union Baptist Association (Houston, TX), and Dallas Baptist Association.
The chart below shows the top 10 largest associations in SBC. Jacksonville association is the one only with a prevalent group, White Anglo with 57 percent of all congregations in the association. The other nine associations do not have a group with absolute majority though the White Anglo group has the largest number of congregations in four associations, African American in two, and Asian American, Hispanic, Other Ethnic each has one.
